Ah! At last! IKEA is not only a place where a vegan can find a stuffed broccoli to cuddle (no, this is not a joke) but vegan and plant-based foods to eat to make the shopping experience even more joyous.
A shopping center with affordable prices, and endless variety of options. A magical place that holds everything you want, and everything you didn’t even know you wanted but now you undoubtedly need. As if the many colorful displays and sample rooms aren’t already pulling enough, to make it even better, this establishment comes with a built-in cafeteria which features a plethora of options to suit each palate, from lighter fare and salads to hot side dishes and dessert options.
No, it’s not a dream. It’s IKEA, the Swedish-founded multinational group which, according to Wikipedia, has been the largest furniture retailer of the world since 2008.
This is a real photo of my vegan and gluten-free lunch, as taken on my simple Android phone at the Ybor City store in the dining area. Two delicious vegetable soups, my ceremonial french fries, and some veggie meatballs and rainbow veggies on the side. No one is mad!
Whether you came hungry or shopping makes you hungry, IKEA has the hookup. Prior to becoming a follower of cruelty-free living, I’ve tried numerous dishes at IKEA and have not a single complaint. That being said, I can only henceforth promote those dishes which cater to a plant-based lifestyle and don’t require the enslavement and murder of sentient beings.
I’m not sure which is a bigger selling point– the fact that the food is as affordable as the furniture, or that the affordable food is more delicious than the price tag even conveys. Full flavor, fresh tasting, and absolutely filling. Hold on though, because it gets EVEN better… you can purchase IKEA’s cafeteria favorites downstairs in their grocery store section so you have the vegan options right at home! Talk about first world luxury.
While on the subject of IKEA, it’s a a great time to mention that some of my absolute favorite kitchen items come from the Swedish retailer likewise. I promise, I do not work for IKEA or get endorsed from them in any way. This is my honest opinion of their products as an unbiased (yet fully pleased) consumer.
